The second one for today!
A rule of thumb: when you are doing serious reporter work about serious stories involving environmental damage and EPA standards and all that depressing jazz, do not spice it up by dressing as Lara Croft from the Tomb Raider series. It won’t help.
Actually on a second look, Lara is wearing more clothes, she has an undershirt. And guns, which aren’t clothes, but hey at least they’re useful when things need shooting. I never found her clothes all that appropriate for running around the jungle, but the plot was find tombs, and raid them so I think it gets a pass, or is at least easier to deal with than Lois reportering in those clothes. And they were fun games to play and I got to be a girl and run around and shoot things and in the mid 90s that was amazing all by itself, to hell with the clothes. Anyways, I digress.
Seriously this is not appropriate clothing for someone to wear while working on a story! I like the idea of the ponytail, but the dangly earrings negate any practicality of your hair being out of your way and the canteen is cute sized but would be incredibly annoying to carry if it bounces around that much. It’s like a sexy hiker costume like you’d find at Halloween, instead of actual hiking clothes. Or reporting clothes. She doesn’t even have any reporting gear and she’s apparently interviewing people and getting the story and all that jazz. In short shorts. At least her thong isn’t hiked up, I would be completely incoherent by this point if she did. Bleaugh. Allan Goldman, pleasepleaseplease consider the context of this comic book. If she’s reporting on a story about lost tombs that need to be raided fine. But she isn’t, so she would wear something maybe just a smidge more tasteful when writing a story about factory contaminants destroying the groundwater supply. Like a shirt that reaches the top of her shorts.
I know that when I bend over to examine groundwater and report upon it, I like to let the locals showing me around see my asscrack.
P.S. yeah, hurray Lara!
Midriff shirts in comics are the bane of my existence! This is a great blog! Hooray
